Matt Standal – New Media Professional…

Me!

I am a Multimedia Journalist at Northland’s NewsCenter in Duluth, MN. My goal is to create engaging news videos that are both creative and visually stunning.

I report on diverse issues, including the status of Minnesota’s wolf population, a number of outdoor and endurance sports, and the status of under-represented individuals in Northern Minnesota and North-Western Wisconsin.

In 2007, I took a degree in English and Philosophy from the University of MN, Duluth.  I then moved to South Florida to become a full-time scuba instructor.  Here, I also worked as the staff writer for the Keys  Weekly Newspaper.

After moving to beautiful East Oahu to teach diving in the Pacific,  I soon qualified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (PADI MSDT).  However, after living in paradise for a year, I returned to Minnesota and accepted a News Assistant position at KSAX TV in Alexandria.  Here I received the training necessary to become a broadcast news professional.

Updated April 2010.
